Will Taren Tactical, Hyve or Strike industries M&P Shield mag extensions work with the Samson Compact Magwell?
Listed mag extensions will not work with the Samson Compact Magwell. The profile of these are the same size as the grip and are supposed to act like a grip extension, as well as a mag extension. Consequently, they will interfere with the inside profile of the magwell. The advantage of the Samson Compact Magwell over these product is that it is affixed to the pistol and keeps your hand from interfering with the magazine while dropping and empty mag.

It also provides a modified shooting grip to significantly increase recoil management. Samson Carry Contour Magazine Extensions are a perfect solution to accompany the Samson Compact Magwell.

This is a well thought out product. I rarely carried the gun except with the 8 round magazine anyway. It makes it really easy to shoot now and reloads like a full size gun. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is I had to do a lot of fitting to make it work with my Shield 2.0 but thats probably more an issue with S&W than this product. Even if you have to do a lot of fitting its well worth it.

My only real gripe with the Shield is how my pinky finger barely hangs on the grip (even with my small hands) and without a mag it has absolutely nowhere to go. This is somewhat distracting with dry fire practice. Its a sub compact pistol so I can't really fault S&W for that. The Samson mag well puts an end to this and the gun now settles perfectly in the hand. I use it with the 8 round mag in the stock configuration (with one in the pipe) and my spare mag as the Samson +1 extension. This setup ensures that the gun always has 9 rounds ready to go (instead of 8). The product works as advertised but I have 2 observations: 1) The magazine no longer falls free from the gun. The inside of the mag well makes just enough friction that I have to manually strip the magazine out. I feel that taking a couple thousandths off the ID during production, omitting the nitride finish on the inside, or polishing the inside would fix this. 2) The anchoring system works well but I feel it should grab the inside of the grip cavity better.
