SOPROD™ Cleaning Rod

I bought this rod for my AK pattern rifle since I’m running an M4 stock adapter that has a storage compartment in it. 1) Right off the bat I had to give this rod a solid, five stars for how compact each of the 6 segments are (Excluding the brush attachment) being only 4.25 inches in length. You are able to measure out just how many segments you will need to properly clean the barrel of your rifle. And all the segments are able to fit nicely into my storage compartment of my stock. 2) The brush attachment also gets a solid Five stars, Since it can accept any brush that is threaded 8-32 Which makes finding compatible brushes relatively easy. 3) The rotating head of the rod I have to give a solid three stars, This is mainly due to the fact that This segment of the rod has a tendency to go back to the locking position for when you have it stored, This is not a bad feature to have, but it does cause some issues for when you try to use the rod to properly clean your barrel because with the slightest amount of pressure going down the barrel, it likes to go back to the locking position Which makes this rod more of a pull rod. My suggestion on how to improve this would be to include a way to walk the rod open so that it can be pushed or pulled. 4) This one I have to really hate to ding Samson on, But the lack of a case/tube To store the rod in and it’s because of this, but I have to give a one star on. Unfortunately, I had to go online and research way to keep all the Segments of the rod from rattling around inside my stock adapter. And as many military people know that the less noise you make the better your chances of survival, And after weeks of researching, I finally came across military surplus finger socks that were originally used for the M1 Garand the actually worked well with this rod by acting as a tight wrap around all the segments of the rod while also fitting a bore jag as well as a punch for my AK. Overall, the rod is a great product and gives a great option for anyone that has an AK rifle that doesn’t have the original cleaning rod, but has the option of a storage space in their stock. The only thing I ask Samson Mfg. to do is take my review with a grain of salt and at least give it some thought about the small improvements to really help make their product SHINE.

Out in the field and slipped poking my barrel straight into the mud. Trying to clear a barrel obstruction with a whittled stick was not the morning I wanted. After looking around to see what options I had for a cleaning rod that still attaches to the rifle, I found Samson Mfg's option and I'm impressed. Great build quality and fits in a SOPMOD stock perfectly with no rattle at all. Honestly surprised these are not more popular, a great simple addition. Hopefully I'll not need it again, but now I'll always have it. I never knew what to put in these storage compartments anyway; besides CR123's and earplugs. 10/10
